Hakone Kohan Golf Course
Hakone Kohan Golf Course
Located next to lake Ashi in the Hakone national park, this club was founded in 1964. The club house was modernised to an international standard and now welcomes golfers from around the world. This is a well designed resort course with panoramic views of Lake Ashi and the surrounding Hakone mountains. To the east you can see the active volcanic area known as Owakudani, that steams throughout the year and is easily viewed from almost all the holes on the course.

The front nine has exiting elevation changes that despite being not overly long, does help to keep it challenging. The back nine is comparatively flat with each hole surrounded by mature forests and strategically placed bunkers that require strategic planning and accurate shot execution.
With an elevation of 1,494m (4,720ft) above the sea level, rounds here in the valley can be cooler than in nearby Tokyo and therefore help to make this area a historically popular summer vacation destination. The Hakone Izu National Park is the most popular hot spring, spa and leisure resort area in Japan.
